A grand farewell ceremony was organised in honour of Dr. Baldev Singh.

A grand farewell ceremony was held in honor of Dr. Baldev Singh. Sirsa: November 3: A grand farewell ceremony was held today at Government National College, Sirsa, under the chairmanship of Principal Professor Harjinder Singh, to mark the retirement of Dr. Baldev Singh, Head of the Department of Physical Education. Professor Ramesh Soni, Public Relations Officer of the college, stated that Dr. Baldev Singh retired after nearly 21 years of illustrious service to the Higher Education Department, Haryana. As a capable academic and sports professional, Dr. Baldev Singh's career has been highly impressive, dignified, and inspiring. During his tenure, Dr. Baldev Singh organized numerous district, state, and national-level sports events. Numerous hockey players nurtured under his able guidance have made their mark at the national and international levels. Two players nurtured by Dr. Baldev Singh have played in the Olympics, and eight have played internationally in hockey. In 2010, he was honored by the Haryana Government with a prize money of ₹200,000 for being the coach of Olympian Sardar Singh. In 2019, Dr. Baldev Singh was awarded the "Sirsa Gaurav Award" by His Excellency Prof. Ganeshi Lal, former Governor of Orissa. He has also received nine honors from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, for various events and achievements. He was honored by the District Administration on January 26, 2011, during the Republic Day celebrations. Born in Sant Nagar village of Sirsa district, Dr. Baldev Singh earned a BA from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra in 1986, an MA in Physical Education in 1988, and a PhD in 2003. He also earned a Diploma in Hockey Coaching from NIS, Patiala in 2003. Dr. Baldev Singh also served as a hockey coach and PTI at Namdhari Sports Academy, Shri Jeevan Nagar (Sirsa) and Government High School, Nakoda. In August 2004, he was appointed by the Higher Education Department, Haryana, and joined Firoz Gandhi Memorial Government College, Adampur. From August 2010 until his retirement, Dr. Baldev Singh served at Government National College, Sirsa. In addition to a book, he has published several research papers. He has also presented nine research papers at national and international conferences. At the farewell ceremony, Dr. Baldev Singh was accompanied by his wife Kulwinder Singh, daughter Dr. Avinash Kaur, son Vishwajeet Singh, mother Jagdish Kaur, elder brother Hira Singh, brother-in-law and brother-in-law, along with his friend and former professor of Commerce, Dr. Krishna Gopal. All guests were formally welcomed by the college staff. During the ceremony, Principal Prof. Harjinder Singh, Dr. Harvinder Singh, Prof. Surendra Kumar, Dr. Vikas Nain, Dr. Anita Madia, Dr. Jeetram Sharma, Dr. Bablesh Jhorang, Prof. Paramjit Kaur and Prof. Ramesh Soni shared their memories with Dr. Baldev Singh through speeches and songs. Dr. Naveen Makkad gave an attractive and emotional presentation of Dr. Baldev Singh's entire life journey through a film. At the end of the program, on behalf of the college family, Dr. Baldev Singh, his life partner Kulwinder Kaur, daughter Dr. Avinash Kaur and son Vishwajeet Singh were honored with gifts and the entire college family expressed their best wishes for their successful, happy, healthy, golden, bright future and long life.
