Objectives:
● Raise awareness about the environmental cost of single-occupancy vehicle use.
● Encourage employees/individuals to make sustainable commute choices
● Raise awareness sustainable commute practices such as Car Pooling, E-vehicles, Cycling, Walking and use of Public Transport
● Serve as a catalyst for adopting permanent changes in commute behaviour
A Brief Report
20 September was declared Go Green Commute Day. Sh. Harjinder Singh, Principal said that means of transportation are huge source. These emissions are threat to our health and well-being. He asked students and staff to adopt ecofriendly ways of transportation to mitigate carbon emissions. Following activities were undertaken.
● Staff Participation: All staff members were enthusiastically encouraged to adopt green commute options such as cycling, walking, e-rickshaws, public transport, and carpooling.
● Recognition: Staff members who participated by using sustainable transportation were honoured by having a green ribbon tied around their wrist, symbolizing their commitment to the environment.
● Educational Lectures: Teachers delivered informative lectures in their classes, focusing on the harmful emissions caused by conventional transportation and practical ways to mitigate them.
● Student Engagement: The campaign successfully sensitized almost 400 students, making them aware of the environmental impact of their travel choices.
