A Brief Report
The college successfully hosted a vibrant and impactful eco-friendly bazaar, embodying the institution's commitment to environmental stewardship. The bazaar witnessed overwhelming participation from students, staff and community.
Participation & Footfall
The event was a resounding success in terms of engagement:
● Stalls: A total of 26 diverse stalls were set up.
● Student Participants: Over 70 students from various Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) streams actively managed the stalls, showcasing exceptional entrepreneurial and creative skills.
● Visitors: The bazaar attracted more than 500 students from the college. Both teaching and non-teaching staff visited the bazaar. The faculty members interacted with the students and appreciated their hard work, creativity and teamwork. Sh. Harjinder Singh, Principal visited each stall and encouraged the student participants. It was also graced by the presence of principals from neighbouring colleges, retired principals, and community members, reflecting a wide-reaching impact.
Highlights of the Stalls and Activities
The bazaar featured a wide array of sustainable products, cultural items, and awareness initiatives:
● Sustainable & Upcycled Products: Stalls offered eco-friendly alternatives, including:
o Jute bags, cotton products, and handmade hair bands crafted from old cloth pieces.
o Handmade key rings, handmade candles, hand-painted decor pieces, and diyas.
o Innovative "Best out of Waste" products, including plants potted in creatively reused containers.
o Second-hand books to promote the circular economy.
● Cultural & Traditional Crafts: Adding a unique cultural dimension, several stalls featured beautiful handmade items for festivals and rituals, such as decorative pieces for Karwa Chauth, intricately designed Laddu Gopal dresses, and eco-friendly pooja thalis.
● Food Stalls: In a significant step, food stalls served food in pattals and donas (leaf plates and bowls) provided by the college, an initiative to eliminate the use of plastic cutlery.
● Food Stalls served Sweet Corn, Fresh Fruit Juice, Fruit Chat, Moth Chat, Sandwich, Golgappe, Mojito, Appe, Fried Idli, Cup Cakes, Handmade Chocolates, Dahi Bhalle ,Navratra Special
● Entertainment & Engagement:
o The event was enlivened by a mesmerizing musical performance by Nipun, a student of BBA, which captivated the audience.
o Interactive games added a fun and engaging element for visitors of all ages.
● Carbon Footprint Committee Awareness Stall: This pivotal stall educated visitors on making sustainable life choices.
o The highlight was the "Pledge for a Sustainable Future" initiative, where hundreds of visitors committed to greener lifestyles.
o The "Go Green" selfie point became a popular spot, allowing participants to share their support online and amplify the event's message.
