Introduction
With the aim of fostering a spirit of scientific inquiry, encouraging healthy competition, and identifying young scientific talent at the grassroots level, the Department of Science at Govt. National College, Sirsa, successfully organized the District-Level Science Quiz Competition on [19-09-2025]. The event provided a dynamic platform for students from various colleges across the district to showcase their knowledge and passion for science.
The Convener of the Science Quiz, Dr. Surekha welcomed the participants, teachers, and judges, outlining the rules and the importance of the event.
The Competition
The quiz saw enthusiastic participation from over [15] teams representing various colleges from across Sirsa district.
• Quiz Masters: The competition was deftly conducted by Dr. Ramesh Soni Department of Zoology and Dr. Bharti Sharma from the Physics and Chemistry departments, respectively.
• Format: The quiz comprised multiple engaging rounds, including:-
• Screening Round : A MCQ based screening test was conducted to select eight teams for next round quiz.
• Question Round:
o Rapid-Fire Round: A test of quick thinking and fundamental knowledge.
o Visual Round: Identification of scientific apparatus, famous scientists, and phenomena from images.
• Audio-Visual Round: Questions based on short science-related videos and audio clips.
The rounds were designed to be engaging and challenging for both participants and the audience.
The questions spanned a wide spectrum of scientific disciplines—Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and General Science—challenging the students' conceptual understanding and application skills.
The screen test was conducted by Dr. Bablesh Jhorad, Dr. Savita, Dr. Deeksha, and Dr. Pawanveer Kaur. During the oral quiz competition, Professor Ramesh Soni served as quiz master, Dr. Saroj Kamboj as Technical Expert, and Dr. Sarita, Rimpi, and Anil (LA) monitored time and operated the scoreboard. Registration and certificate writing were handled by Professor Paramjit Kaur and Professor Seema Rani. Refreshment distribution was handled by Professors Sher Singh, Shikha, Kuldeep Kumar, and Sarita (LA).
The Result
In the district-level competition,Government National College, Sirsa, placed first, CMK National College, Sirsa, second, CRDAV Girls College, Ellenabad, third, B.R. Ambedkar Government College, Dabwali, fourth, and Government National College, Sirsa, fifth. The top five teams selected at the district level will participate in the regional-level science quiz competition.

Conclusion
At the conclusion of the competition, certificates were distributed to all participants, including the winning teams. In his address, Principal Dr. Harjinder Singh congratulated all participants, including the winners. All students from the Physics and Mathematical Sciences Council provided excellent support in organizing this competition.
The District-Level Science Quiz Competition was a resounding success. It not only tested the academic prowess of the students but also ignited their scientific temperament. The event concluded on a high note, with a promise to continue nurturing scientific talent in the region. The winning teams, will now represent the Sirsa district at the upcoming state-level science competition.
