Govt. National College, Sirsa makes conscious and concerted efforts to make the college an inclusive
institution.The students that enroll in college come from diverse regional, linguistic and socio-economic backgrounds. The College has Equal Opportunity Cell or specifically as the SC/ST/OBC/PwD Cell, is a crucial support system within the college. Its primary goal is to ensure an inclusive and discrimination-free environment for students from marginalized and economically weaker sections of society.

Objective and Mission

The main objective of the SEDG Cell is to empower students from Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (primarily SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories) by providing them with the necessary academic, financial, and social support to help them succeed in their higher education.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

The cell typically handles the following areas:

  1. Implementation of Government Schemes:

    • It acts as a nodal body for implementing various state and central government welfare schemes and scholarships for SC, ST, OBC, and EWS students.

    • This includes pre-matric and post-matric scholarships, fee reimbursement schemes, and other financial aid programs.

  2. Guidance and Counseling:

    • Provides information and guidance to students about the various scholarships and fellowships available to them.

    • Assists students in filling out and submitting scholarship application forms correctly and on time.

    • Offers academic and personal counseling to help students cope with academic pressure and any social challenges they might face.

  3. Grievance Redressal:

    • It serves as a confidential platform where students can report any instances of discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment based on their caste or socio-economic background.

    • The cell investigates such complaints and works with the college administration to resolve them effectively.

  4. Promoting Awareness and Inclusivity:

    • Promotes a culture of equality and inclusivity on campus through various events and initiatives.
